We See Pictures of Phin For the First Time!!!

A couple of the admissions staff were gracious enough to stand to the side and record us while we looked at pictures of our son for the first time. A precious moment captured forever!!!

REFERRAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's official people! We have received our call. The short version is, Caitlin called around 4:19pm today with our referral. He is a beautiful, healthy 11 month old baby boy and we are OVERCOME with joy! I will try to post the whole crazy story of the day soon . . .

We are praising God for his provision and looking at the pictures of our son every 30seconds! He's delicious! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE'RE NUMBER ONE!!!!

Sorry- that's a little late in coming, but our internet has been somewhat spotty and often non-existent since late May. It feels like so much has happened in the last month and I've had no way to tell you all!

The last time I posted we had been notified that we were "on deck" (meaning in the top ten to receive a referral). Not too long after that we moved up to third and we hung out there for awhile.

Then, about two weeks ago the two families in front of us got their referrals and we moved up to the number one spot. BAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Cue hyperventilation........................................................

Ok. That's enough! Collect yourself for goodness sake. You're an adult!

Anyway-

So we're waiting for the call! My DTE buddy and new friend Paige has been texting me all the updates on the adoption boards since I can't check it myself. We are still praying for a referral and court date before the Ethiopian courts shut down for the rainy season sometime in August. I have been sitting here looking at pictures of fellow adoptive parents who are in Ethiopia right now and who just met their kids for the first time this week. I have been weeping and rejoicing with them as I browse their pics and look at at the precious faces. I cannot imagine the emotional state I will be in when we finally get our own referral and have our own "Meetcha day" (the day we first meet Phin) and "Gotcha Day" (the day we finally bring him home). My heart is so ready to see a picture of my son!! I will definitely try to find a way to update you all as soon as we GET THAT CALL!!!! SQUEEEEE!!!

In fundraiser news, we were overwhelmed and shocked with a financial blessing from James' family. Memorial Day weekend we travelled to North Bloomfield to celebrate the life of James' uncle Don and to do some serious celebrating at his massive birthday party. We very surprised (mid party) to be called up front by James' cousin LeeAnn. She shared how touched she (and the rest of the family) were by what we were trying to do and that, on behalf of Grandma and Grandpa Smith, she presented us with an envelope of money the family had raised to "BRING THAT BOY HOME"!!! James and I were so touched and SO SHOCKED that we were, quite literally, SPEECHLESS! This, as you may know, is not unusual for me. Quite unusual for James. ;-) Thanks again to LeeAnn for coordinating it all. We are continually blown away by the support our families and friends provide daily. Thanks for loving our boy and for loving us. Also, you can still buy real Ethiopian coffee to benefit our adoption at http://www.justlovecoffee.com/bringphinhome. It's great coffee for a great cause.

Again- please be patient with me as our internet is nil! I will try to do some more late night internet runs when possible. Blessings to you all!!!
